Job description:
enza is on the lookout for a Legal Counsel to support regional operations across Africa, focusing on contracts, corporate governance, and regulatory compliance in the fintech sector. The role includes drafting agreements, coordinating with regulators, and monitoring legal developments.
Key responsibilities:
– Regional role supporting the company’s operations across multiple African countries.
– Negotiate, review, and draft a wide range of commercial contracts, including vendor agreements, client contracts, service-level agreements, and NDAs.
– Assist with regulatory filings and corporate housekeeping (board and shareholder resolutions, company registers, licenses, and statutory filings).
– Conduct legal research on diverse matters, particularly in the payment services and financial technology sector, including cross-border regulations.
– Support compliance with internal policies and regulatory frameworks (AML/CFT, data protection, labor law, etc).
– Coordinate with external counsel in multiple jurisdictions and track deliverables.
– Liaise with GAFI and other governmental authorities in Egypt, as well as regulators across African markets where the company operates.
– Monitor legislative and regulatory developments in Egypt and other relevant African countries, flagging potential impacts on the business.
– Provide legal support in employment-related matters (employment contracts, HR policies, disciplinary processes).
– Maintain accurate legal records, contracts database, and corporate documentation across jurisdictions.
Qualifications:
– 1–2 years of post-qualification legal experience (PQE), preferably in a multinational company or reputable law firm.
– Member of the Egyptian Bar Association.
– Graduate from English or French section.
– Background in the payment industry or financial technology is a strong plus.
– Proven experience in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts.
– Proficiency in English (both written and spoken) is essential; strong legal drafting skills in English are required.
– Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
– High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
– Good interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with business teams and external stakeholders across different countries.
